Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my campaign web site. It has been an honor to serve you in the Texas House of Representatives. The 81st Legislative Session began in January ago with many exciting changes and many challenges.  The House of Representatives elected a new Speaker of House, Joe Straus of San Antonio.  Speaker Straus promised a new course for operation in the House. 

I am pleased to say that Speaker Straus reappointed me to both my number one and number two committee assignment selections: Appropriations Committee and Culture, Recreation & Tourism.   Also, I was reappointed the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.  The Appropriations Committee oversaw a $180 billion biennial budget.  The Culture, Recreation & Tourism oversees the arts, parks, recreation, hunting, historical preservation and tourism measuring including the film incentives.  I have had the honor of serving on both of these committees since 2003.

We are all painfully aware that the nation's and Texas' economy are in one of the deepest slumps that we have seen since the Great Depression.  Representing you on the Appropriations Committee gave me the opportunity to continue to fight for funding measures that make our state and our quality of life better.

 I'm proud of my record of accomplishment in the legislature. I've been at the forefront of the battle when it comes to strengthening quality health care, improving education, fighting crime,  balancing environmental quality with positive economic development and jobs, protecting children, women and the elderly and supporting small and historically underutilized business.

It is my belief that District 46 and Eastern Travis County are deserving of as much respect as all of Austin, Travis County and the State of Texas.  Together we can work to make a difference with our concerns at the forefront of every consideration before the legislature.
